Lee Godie: Chicago-based outsider artist
Thinking about furthering my last fibers project and incorporating more folky/outsider artist styles and concepts. Lee Godie was an outsider artist who lived on the streets of downtown Chicago often frequenting the Art Institute steps. She was highly eccentric and would be very selective about who she sold her work to or even talked to. She claimed to be a French expressionist and was known for creating herself as “the artists”. She often went in photo booths and took photographs of her as different personas often modifying and painting over the prints later.
